Getting around

Buses connect the main cities. Taxis and shuttles are common for trips to the coast and volcanoes. Rental cars are available but roads outside cities vary a lot, so plan extra time.

Best time to visit

The dry season, roughly November to April, is the most popular time for hiking and beaches. The rainy season brings green landscapes and fewer visitors.

Money

The currency is the córdoba. US dollars are widely accepted, but carry some córdobas for small purchases. Confirm prices in advance with each business.
